Kiss the Joy As it Flies is still finding readers. Click here and here

To read my brief reflection on Mercy and the book a few years on ...
"Have Mercy, gratitude to those who've read and enjoyed the novel and taken the time to tell me. Mercy. Kiss the Joy As it Flies was not a book easy to categorize and I was thrilled when it was shortlisted for the Leacock award. Even more, the emails that keep coming in reassure me that - 1) books have their own lives and find the readers they need to reach and 2) to write the book I needed to write the way I needed to write it was a terror worth trying. Even though you know you can't please everyone, or not everyone will appreciate a satire on the messiness of life and you know deep deep down you cannot write a book that is everybody's cuppa tea — you still want to be read, appreciated and understood by some. A book can't be a book unless it is read, as I say over and over and over again. I still owe Sandra McIntyre the editor so much for going the distance with me. For those who got it and know what's there between and underneath the funny and can relate to those hard won truths, yes, I'm going to dare to write another adult book some day with head and heart and give it my all again. All we can do. All is all. I've started...this one is nothing like Mercy...but before then will be...Pluto..."
